Fishing this month is "reel" pleasure. Mild humidity, warm days have made being in the outdoors even more enjoyable. Even saw a bald eagle fly over the boat, last week.

The mullet are still thick, which is keeping the reds plentiful, although a series of windy fronts have kept me away from the jetties for the big ones. Puppy drum are hitting in the main channels of the salt marsh using cut shrimp. Remember the slot. I watched one boat throwing shorties in the cooler. Also, on cut shrimp I have landed several nice Black Drum in Dunn Sound. They are plentiful in the 15"-18" range. The trout bite has been slow lately, but should be picking up as water temps. fall a few more degrees. Berkley gulps have been producing small flounder and even spots. Speaking of spots they have been thick off Cherry Grove pier, but have been slow in the creeks. Their is no shortage of boats crowding to try.

I really like fishing artificials in the fall months. They are good replacement as the mullet begin to migrate south. Nothing beats light tackle flounder fishing with artificials.
