Check the lowrance site. if my memory is correct, lowrance has a proprietary system that does not interface with most map providers. They do have a list on their website for the chips that will work

I've used Navionics on my Lowrance for fresh water lakes and it works great. I'm considering the offshore chip. With the Lowrance I think you have to go thru the Menu's to choose which Map Detail you want. You have to change from Lowrance to Navionics. It will then read the Navionics chip but you can't save anything to the Navionics chip (it's read only). I think once you get offshore you can switch to a "fish N chips" to get the detail for the bottom structure. It is my understanding that when you order your Gold chip there is a coupon to allow you to get the fish n chip at no additional charge. Be sure to go to the Navionics web site to find out which Lowrance plotters work with the proper Navionics chip. For instance, my Lowrance plotter will not work with the Navioncis chip that show in 3D.

I have a Navionics hot maps lake map now and It works fine. I have a 334c on my bass boat but I am going to start useing it offshore.I have found a good deal on a NauticPath chip and navionics is about 200 bucks.Yes you have to go through the menu to choose the map.I allready have all the offshore waypoints logged on my background map so whatever map I use it shuld overlay all those waypoints.I'm just not shure how much bottom detail the NauticPath shows.

My brother has the Lowrance Nautica Path lake map and my Navionics Hot Maps shows more bottom detail than his pre-loaded Lowarance Nautica path map. I would assume the offshore is the same but don't know since I don't have the Navionics Gold yet. I have seen the Gold for $179 online. I think it was Landfall Marine. I was waiting to see if the 2008 version price would be lowered when the 2009 version comes out. You could probably e-mail Navionics and ask them your questions.
