After an extensive search by the Coast Guard they found the body of Kelly Cooper. He went grouper fishing yesterday and never came home. May Kelly rest in peace. If any of you knew Kelly, say a prayer for his wife and son. He was a good friend, an accomplished fisherman, a wealth of knowledge for anything nautical, the quintessential old salt. It was a pleasure to have known him. He will be deeply missed. Somewhere right now, a Saint is learning how to hook a fish.

Kelly will be missed. He was an extensive database of fishing and boating knowledge, all good nautical advice, and an example of hard work and dedication to things that we love. Rest in Peace.

My thoughts and prayers to his wife and son, worked a few jobs that involved Kelly back when I first got out of the USCG. He'll be missed.

What happened, haven't seen any news about it?

I met Kelly back in March of this year. I bought a new Garmin 4208 system and West Marine recommended Kelly for the installation. I could not have gotten any better to do the work. I knew right off that Kelly knew his work and had him do a lot of work including servicing the engine. We became friends quickly and I knew I could call Kelly anytime for advice concerning my boat or equipment. I truly feel blessed with having met him.

My prayers are with the family. I will miss Kelly and his quick comebacks to anything I could throw out. May God bless and comfort you.

Very sad. Kelly did some installation and wiring for me several years ago on the old Albemarle and did a great job. Sorry to hear he's gone.

I understand there will be a service in Hampstead on Saturday at 3 pm. Kelly was a good friend and I had the pleasure of fishing with him on several occasions. He will be missed as a friend, a true professional and as a fisherman.

Kelly did a bunch of wiring on my boat this summer. He did a great job and always showed up when he said he would. In my opinion, he was one of the best when it comes to boat electrical issues. He will be missed.

I did not read his post, but how could anybody have anything bad to say about this. Wether you knew him or not. I did not know him or his family but I was at the Coast Guard Station on Tuesday morning dropping off my stepson for his intership when they were finishing up the recovery. Saw his boat docked at their pier. Was a sobering moment for sure.
