I am planning to make the trip also. I would be out of the Raleigh area. If we have a carpool leaving from this end I would like to contribute to the gas _________________ Don Gray

has there been a permit pulled to demonstrare or any organizing whatsoever done to get this thing legal and rolling?
Just curious cuz it would piss alot of fisherman off to make that journey and not be heard because of lack of organization march on the capital as in what? |

Press Release
FISHERMEN TO MARCH ON WASHINGTON, DC
For Release, January 11, 2010:
The March on Washington scheduled for February 24, 2010 is on and interest is growing daily.
Everyone who fishes, consumes fish, supports fishing, and depends on fishing is encouraged to attend.
Info has been posted at http://fs16.formsite.com/FixMagnusonNow/form793561462/ where a letter to
Congressmen Pallone, Frank, Jones et al and Senator Schumer thanking them for their support of
recreational, commercial and party/charter fishermen, their families and the businesses that depend on
them has been placed.
In the letter the problems that fishermen have been facing and continue to face, the cause of those
problems, and the way to fix them - which boils down to restoring the role for fishermen that was
designed into the original Magnuson Act have been pointed out.
Please view the site and read the information. If you agree with it, please fill out the form and urge the
people who you fish or do business with to do the same. The future of our fisheries, and of who controls
them, depends on it.
We fully support real science based management and the conservation of our marine resources while
also being able to sustain recreational and commercial fishing activities, providing locally caught
seafood, sustaining small family businesses, and supporting our coastal communities.
UNITED WE FISH and VOTE
CCGF urges all elected officials to work together and to join the efforts by the leaders of other coastal
states for the best interests of our coastal communities and the Nation.
More details will be released soon.
CCGF is a 501(c) (6) non profit that represents recreational for-hire vessel owners and operators, supporting businesses, and
recreational anglers from the Gulf of Mexico _________________ www.captainstanman.us 1st 2005 SKA 23 Class, 2nd 2008, 14th 2009, 15th 2003, SKA Sportsman 2004. 2002 U. S. I am planning on going as well. I can drive or ride and help with gas. Ya'll let me know your exact plan and I'll see if it would be better for me to try and ride with ya'll or drive myself.
I'm surprised there aren't more fishermen on this board committing to making the trip. It will soon be too late to prevent these closures and we all know that once the closures are in place they will NEVER be reversed. |

I read where Capt Brant from OIFC has offered to rent a bus to carry around 50 people up there. He is currently looking for people to commit before he takes it any further. _________________ Go Heels!!!!! |

I am going to be talking about this at the next meetings of both the NCW Piedmont fishing club and the Charlotte Offshore fishing club
Don't think there will be enough interest from Charlotte to charter a bus, but car pooling options should be available _________________ Squid Row II

sound like there are plenty of people going together. maybe should consider renting a 15 passenger van from Triangle Rent-a-car and save on cost of fuel and parking. I am sure Frank who is a member here will be more than happy to give a discounted rate for the cause. I am trying to see what my work is going to be and try to make the trip. _________________ 2007 Regulator 29FS Twin Yamaha F250

..We're taking the van up to DC that day. Redfishman1 is riding with and both of us have folks to visit up that way so we're staying 2 nights. Miz Sandy'd like to see the Smith's if that's still allowed. Leaving from Southport via US40 & 95. Depending on baggage, we may still have room for another 1 or 2 non-smokers if that schedule is doable for ya..
We'll be staying South of DC in the NoVa area near Dumfries.
Contact via PM if interested.. d:^) Schneeky.. |

Hmmm.. With Butch in the mix I'm sure it'd get pretty deep on that long of a hike.
Poor 'ol Miz Sandy'd be schtuck in the middle of it all..
I'm not sure she could bear it.. d:^) Schneeky.. |

The only issue with driving versus going by bus is parking. May have to park outside DC and take the Metro in. Parking near the capitol is very limited. _________________ SeaHunter 35 CC

That is the plan. My son has never been to DC.....or rode on a Metro....So we are going to make the most of it.

..I used to live there.. It's very do-able.. Just stay somewhat close to a Metro station, better yet if it's real close and ya can just walk over. Take a cab for a few bucks if yer tired/lazy/sorry.
..It's do-able.. We have some visiting to do while we're there or we'd be onna bus.
Can ya imagine the BS'n that's gonna go on inna bus full of salts.? Eeeeeyikes.!! d:^) Schneeky..
**UPDATE** We have a van full now.. Thanks.!! d:^) Schneeks.. |
