Capt.Dave can help me out here.(With some data & info)
Fishermen tell jane that the science is flawed so
she cuts the research budget?
And what is she doing with our research money? _________________

Catch Shares huge talking point in the rally. Insanely ludicrous.

Lubchenco noted that the agency's budget request for FY 2010 included $18.6 million to help the struggling New England groundfish fishery implement a catch-share program. She also announced a new task force that will figure out how the agency can make sure that councils consider this type of program when they update their management plans and how NOAA can provide technical support.
Although Lubchenco has a reasonably big stick—she recommends to the secretary of commerce whether to approve the council's plans—she's starting out with encouragement and incentives. Experts say it's the right approach. "Make it easy, grease the skids with some money, and celebrate the successes," as David Festa of the Environmental Defense Fund puts it.
Fisheries scientist Andy Rosenberg of the University of New Hampshire, Durham, is also a fan, but he cautions that tricky issues remain to be resolved, such as how recreational fishing might be dealt with under a catch-shares plan. _________________

Well with catch shares, there is no longer a need for reaserch as they can say that the stocks are failing if they want. Hey look on the bright side...less taxes... _________________ near shore and inshore charter fishing and photography

Im wanting to see the info from the congressional investigation that NMFS and NOAA have to account for next week. You guys keep your eyes out for this info. I really think that its a shame the way that the fishermen have been railroaded. It really sounded as though there are actually people in the places that matter that have seen this as well. Maybe if the investigation shows enough info. and the fishermen keep pushing with facts then there might could be changes made through hearings and investigations. The government has had some bad PR lately and everyone is throwing people under the bus to save themselves. If we put enough heat on the right people then maybe the thrown will topple. Somebody has been doing somebody or something to get these things railroaded through without votes and proper judicial process. I want to know how it was done and who it was doing it. Then i want to fry there asses and make them accountable...... _________________ http://www.sneadsferrycharterfishing.com/ |

All the fishermen are bitching about the poor science,
So NOAA puts alot of there research money in "catch shares"
Why not put the money into better research? _________________

I'm no expert on the subject but i know that politicians listen to folks that give them MONEY. Elected officials appoint people who contribute MONEY to them. I heard the talk about an investigation at the rally. I think that's a great idea. First, lets see who gets the MONEY from organizations like PEW. Lets hold the government officials accountable when they take the MONEY and funnel it to their appointees who make the rules that are giving us heartburn. They will take the PEW MONEY, do what PEW wants and then tell us that they are with us. Get the picture? PEW MONEY should have a distinctive smell and be quite easy to track down if the folks doing the investigation really do what they promised at the rally. Time will tell. _________________ Wellcraft 252 Coastal "Bonafide"

Jane Lubchenko, head of NOAA, is a PEW graduate
Need any more info?
They do not care about science, they care about control and catch shares is an insidious way to control fishermen
PEW is running the show and until we can get that stupid *&^# removed from NOAA, we are stuck with it.
The bills we traveled to DC to support were written in 2009 and they are still in committee _________________ Squid Row II
