| OK, So I just looked at The DMF Rec bag limits for Gray Trout(Weakfish) and I have a question---From 3 miles out you can keep 6, while inside 3, keep only 1. If you are more than 3 miles out and catch your limit of 6, then run back to the hill and get checked inside of 3 miles, would you be in violation?? How would this work? |

best just to keep 1.
I guess you could take it to court and they would have to prove you caught them inside.....but its just not worth it. |

| Quote: | I. SIZE AND CREEL LIMITS
A. It is unlawful to possess weakfish for recreational purposes less than 12 inches in total length.
B. It is unlawful to possess more than one (1) weakfish per person per day taken for recreational purposes. |
The key word is "possess". It doesn't matter where you caught it if you are in possession of it within 3 miles. _________________ Capt. Chris Critz

With fisheries rules, they are enforced where you are inspected.
So no matter what the fed regs are, if you are in state waters you need to follow state rules.
If you are fishing inland waters and come back through coastal waters, you need to follow the coastal rules and follow the inland rules while fishing.
If you fish in NC, come in through Little River inlet, you need an SC license.
The rules and regs of the location you are physically located are what you need to follow and if you transit multiple rule zones, you need to be compliant with all of them _________________ Squid Row II

| Thanks for your replies. If that is the case then why did they even bother to make the rules that way, or is it that 3 miles and farther Federal laws apply and inside 3 miles State laws apply? |
