I don't think I would want it as my only computer....but for sitting on the counch to check something...or whatever. It is pretty cool.

It is very inflexable but apple thought it out pretty good.

My wife LOVES it. She has not touched a PC in months.

No Flash....Chome (Their browser)....SUCKS....Supermap only works if you download the Firefox browser for it....some sites are real quirky....but overall it is a pretty cool toy. No way it would EVER replace my PC though.

I'm on a Toshiba pad with android software I love it and it also has USB ports, card reader, HDMI and etc. as the others do not. I would be very unhappy without the ports

Seems to me that without the ports, you still need a PC. For instance, just to get pictures from your SD card in your camera to the tablet. With IPAD, if I understand it correctly, you have to put them on your PC, then SYNC them to your IPAD from your PC. But it seems she's been pretty convinced by her friends that if you go with a lesser tablet, you'll be buying an IPAD later down the road. Decisions, decisions.

I have the iPad2
the front camera was the clincher for me, lets me do Skype video chat to my parents.

Flash issues aside, iPad is perfect for consuming - reading, watching, etc. As you note, it's very limited at creating anything.

We both use our iPad every day in the living room. It's been money well spent.

If you are happy with wi-fi connection, Kindle Fire offers best for the buck. But, if you need 3G type access, you'll have to look elsewhere.

Take a look at the ASUS Transformer. I also own Apple products and love them. Do the research and make a decision on what you think best fits YOUR needs.

I can get one for $419.00 with our company's discount through apple. Of course that's the 16GB WI-FI version only.

What do ya'll think about the extra warranty "apple care" or whatever it is called? Two years for extra warranty and unlimited tech support. Worth it??

Also remember you have to pay for most apps with the apple. Make sure you do your homework.

I've never paid for the Appe Care. I do like the IPad. Use it all the time. Also, have an IPad 1 that I use on the boat as a backup GPS/Plotter. The iNavX app allows you to use NOAA charts and Navionics charts. It also will allow you to use Hilton's charts (SST, chlorophyll, etc.) with GPS position plotted, which is pretty darn neat.
