Just bought a new toy. Dont know how to put pic up here . I got a 1980 Hydra Sport 25 Ft cc with a 2001 suzuki 225. Have a few question on every thing.... Most inportant one is where can I go to get the letters to name it ? Want to name her ASHLEY JEAN after my daughter who passed away on sept 1 2011. Next questions are no where as important but would like some help.Is the LOWRANCE STRUCTURE SCAN with HDS 5 .a good fish finder? I am not planning on going no more than 25 miles out, can I catch Dophin,Wahoo, Tuna, Grouper that close to shore? Any Help wil be Great.
Thanks Bob

I don't know where your at but a sign from above graphics off of oleander has done all my graphic and decal work. Pete hancock does some awesome work. Also, I don't have experience with the structure scan but when we bought our boat we were told that it wouldn't do much good in the ocean due to the waves. The electronic guys we talked to said you would get an ripple effect on the screen but like I said no personal experience so maybe someone else can ti e you that info.
Goodluck and Congrats on the new toy. _________________ 2011 SEAHUNT Gamefish 25

I think you may find out that you have a 24' CC Hydra Sport. Is the lightening bolt a rust color? To my knowledge, and I may be wrong, the first 25 was produced in late 1983 and it was a WA. In 84 the first CC came out and it was rated for twin 200 or 400HP. This mold stayed the same till the 2796 came out in 2000. If you do have a 80 25CC model it is way underpowered with a single 225. If it's a 24 you still have a very tough fishing machine.
As far as graphics, any sign shop will be happy to letter your new toy. Good fishing

check with Neal at CCBS sign shop in New Bern. They do great work, and a lot of boats. He does a really good job on wraps too if you need one.
Not used the electronics you mentioned, but I did just put a small lowrance combo on my skiff this winter and love it so far. Do not have the side scan and only used it in sound/rivers so far _________________ James Joyce II - Capt Troy Pate

| HDS5 is a good unit. But you will end up with a larger one because that 5" screen is just not big enough in the open ocean. I started with the 5 and now have the 8. |

| I have had structure scan on my boat for 1 season and it works well in Depths less then 200 ft. I have had no problems with it no matter how rough the water is. You will find that your HDS 5 screen is to small I had an HDS 7 and that was small now using a HDS 10 and like the view you get with this unit. |

Have a friend that ordered his lettering online and it looks really good on his boat. I think this is the website and has lots of options for you to design yourself (www.boat-lettering.com). I have the HDS 8 with structure scan and it is a great unit so far. No complaints, but I would highly recommend at least an 8 inch screen (I have a 22' cc and wish I had the 10). Not sure about the smaller units, but the Sirius Satellite Weather can be connected on the larger models which is really nice for SST, wind direction, and monitoring approaching storms. _________________ Seahunt Triton 225 |

| Lowrance only rates the struucture scan 800khz / 455khz transducer to 300ft. I have found on 455khz from 250ft to 300 ft you start losing your view and around 350 ft you have no view. Gives you a good view in 150 to 250ft in deep water on 455khz and under 150ft 800khz works well. Still learning how to use it but I like it so far. |

Good reasonable boat letters>>>>
JAXON SIGNS. Cathy Jackson. (910) 467-3409. cathy@jaxonart.com
Sorry about your lose. Fishfinder should do a good job as long as everything is installed proper. If its a transom mount ducer it can be adjusted.Good luck with your new toy! _________________
