I had Brett on board Friday afternoon for some good ole flats fishing. Light ENE winds, overcast and hungry fish. The day started when we spotted finger mullet getting ambushed while en route to our first stop. To our surprise, it was speckled trout and the top water fishing began. It didn't take long for Brett to hook up with a 28-1/2" 8lb Redfish, followed shortly by a small flounder and another small Redfish. I finally got a small Speckled Trout on my trusted Zara Spook topwater plug, then the bite slacked off.
We made a move to another creek while waiting for the tide to turn and a good move it was. Brett must have caught a half dozen small Redfish and one 30-inch, 10.5 Redfish. We spotted a nice Red tailing up on a mud flat and I put a jig right in front of his nose and he inhaled it, but the hookup wasn't very good and I pulled him off after about a minute.
We finished up the last hour of daylight returning to where we had found the specks and started throwing topwater plugs and it was on. Caught a half dozen specks before dark.
It's time to hit the flats for some great fall fishing!!!

No Billy, I was fishing South of that spot this time. You been pulling any out of that area???

About a month ago did good close to there inside the bend of the elbow.......
Been fishing the inlet & doing exceptional......fished 4 days this week & everyday we caught & released over 10 a day 1 day as many as 25 - many overslot. Using Gold Hopkins, topwater, live bait & 1 on a Fly.....Pm me if you want to go ..........ICM |
