Was thinking about going up there this year and was wondering if they are in yet and are there any size to them. I have been up there the last 3 years and it seems like it has slowed down. Was just curious about now? Thanks!

I have talked to a few folks that have fished the area recently. They fish within a few miles of Huntington Park and said the fish were generally on the smaller side with the occassional 2-3 pound croaker caught. There are some stripers around the bridges and a few 20+ inch flounder being caught. I'm hoping to catch a smokin' hot week to fish them b/c they seem to bight better when you can bearly stand the heat. If you go try the oyster beds by the twin chimneys.

Fished James River and the "new" bridge two days ago and it was ssslllooowww! Only brought home 25 with 3 men fishing. Threw back twice that many that were "shorts". We did pick up one blue and one spot in the bunch. As for croakers, not one fish over 11inches! A few boats were picking up an occasional 12-14 inchers in deeper water (30+feet). Should have been at Swan Quarter NC!!!!!!!

Thanks for the updates! I had thought about going up there next week since I have been for the last 6 years! Just seems like they are getting smaller every year, but I guess that is to be expected considering how hard it has been fished. Anyone else that has any updates please let me know. Thanks!

Yes, We fished James river Friday from about 9 in the morning til about 2pm and kept 15 of the 10-12inchers. The "roe" was gone!!! Picked most of them up on the 21 ft hump off the edge of the channel 300 yards up stream from the bridge. There were plenty of 6-8 inchers. The boat parking lot was nearly full, most going down stream to the Hampton tunnel area. Oh, be assured...you WILL get a ticket if you anchor under the bridge!! That "shade" cost a couple of boats.
