| I have a 1990 Merc 135 on one of my boats. I just replaced the ignition switch on the console. Everything checks out, even the choke. But when I test the kill switch, the engine continues to run. This could be a problem when offshore alone. Anyone have any suggestions how to test the leads to see if I have this wired correctly? Thanks for your help. |

There are a multitude of things that it could be. First I'd check to see if the kill switch itself was operational. Pull the leads off , then check with a multimeter on Ohms ( the omega symbol) to see if you have continuity (current flow through) the switch when in one position then no continuity in the other position. Just because a switch is brand new doesn't mean its good. keep us posted and we'll go thru one thing at a time if we have to. _________________ Mark Pike

Sorry, no tips on testing but,
I had the same type of problem. Spend 50 bucks and get the kill switch replaced. They do eventuly wear out. |
