Ran the Bada-Bing out to the tower today, four of us diving. Hit shallow ledges and live bottom 40-65 feet. One nice hogfish, around 15 lbs and one gag about 20 pounds. First time diving the area and we didn't have any numbers to start with, While we didn't take many prisoners, the dives were beautiful. Lots of stuff growing on the bottom, a few ledges and lots of coral heads. Current wasn't bad at the beginning but was ripping at the end of the day (we did drift dives).

Saw one big lobster, think we were too shallow (65' or less) to run into many. I will definitely make at least another trip out there this summer (anyone want to go?). Have either of you found deeper ledges around the tower that have live bottom on top? We combed north of the tower in the 1-3 mile range pretty good, then south of the tower in the 1-2 mile range. Beautiful dives, just not much relief or depth that we could find.

There are alot of live live bottom/ledges about 5-7 miles NE of the tower, have personally seen some beautiful live bottoms around there with lots of lobsters and fish worth shooting, water depth is 90-110ft.

There is great bottom all around that area. Offshore, south and north of the tower. We cleaned up south of the tower about three weeks ago. Tons of lobsters crawling aroung.

I am always open to go.

I fished the area East of the Tower in April and the scope had some very impressive markings. Looked like at one point there was a steeple coming off the bottom. It is on my list to dive some time. Current is probably bad there.

Dove the 23 miles reef area Saturday. Vis was 50-60 ft on top and about 20-30 on bottom. No lobsters. Maybe a little too shallow there but probably too much diving pressure there.

Does anyone ever bring the lobsters back to land. I am aware that NC state limit sucks, but everyone knows you cant get lobster inside of 3 miles! I guess you could bring the grill with you and feast and bring 1 home for the ride.

Most of the lobster we get out here are bigger than 6 small ones in Florida, so two per person really is a lot of good eating!
