Greetings All,
We had a GREAT but bumpy Overnighter this weekend. The fish were chewing even if the wind was blowing.

Duc got us going....

Then is was ON...

Gags, Scamps, reds, Strawberries....Even a lobster! WOOT WOOT!

Did I mention the B-Liners?

but I have to tell you the funest fish on the whole trip was this barely legal Scamp. You see this young fella and his dad where on there very FIRST offshore adventure and we were on the last stop for the trip. The little guy had wanted top catch a Grouper with no success so far. Then BOOM....small Scamp....only 18 inches.....Sorry, you got to KISS him and throw him back. This kid planted BOTH lips firmly on that fish and over the side he went. Not 5 minutes later....Up came this one. 21 inches and legal! His first Keeper Grouper on his first trip and he caught him with NO help!

Good Job Young Man!

You can view ALL the photos from the trip here....

Bob, We catch them on standard bottom rigs. I think the key to catching them is to leave it VERY still on the bottom for a while so the bug gets to eating before you pull up. I think the other key to success is to be easy on it coming up. I have seen a number of lobster legs come up that were hooked and they just man handled them too hard.
