Took a couple of my diving buddies offshore to do a little bottom fishing a diving this past sunday in hopes of shooting some of the nice grouper we have been seeing on our last couple of trips. Ran out of Ocean Isle about 50 miles to 110'. Dropped over the side, vis was good down to about 60' then it turned to murky brown, could only see about 5'. Needless to say we never found any of our slab grouper we had been seeing. Buddy did shoot a real nice Hog and found about a 15lb lobster though. I would post pics but do not currently know how to resize them so I can upload them here.

We were out there Saturday, about 40 miles out of Southport. 80-90 feet depth, vis was about 15 feet. Some hogs and lobsters, nothing special. Did see some grouper, but it was a day too early.

I live in Charlotte but spend the majority of weekends during the summer in Holden Beach at my parents place. I have been certified for roughly 6 years but can never find people to dive with in the southport area. If you guys are ever looking for an extra guy let me know. I graduated from UNCW 2 years ago. We head to the stream as much as we can with our work schedules. I have failed in every attempt to convince my brother to get certified. I think a 45 minute dive half way to the stream would be awesome, apparently he does not agree. Once again, if you guys are ever looking for an extra guy, dont hesitate to send me a PM. I get on this thing every day. Thanks

Yea man definitely, we actually were short a diver that last trip. I'll keep you in mind especially since you are so close. It is tough finding good people to go when it comes down to it. Especially with how much gas is these days.
