We have been doing allright, 5 days and 3 fish and one pulled off at the boat, not on fire but I'll take it. Tuesday we had a charter onboard. Older gentlemen, buddies wanting to feel the pull of a giant. I asked them how they wanted to fight it, in the chair or the gunnel. One brave soul said "We want to fight it in the chair." I looked at these guys and tried to tactfully tell them they wouldn't last 5 minutes in the chair with one of these mean brutes. Cold water fish and full of fight. I was able to convince them that if they fought it in the gunnel they would each get multiple turns on the reel so they opted to do it that way. We put in near NW places in the dark. Just as it was breaking daylight we started seeing a few hookups. It has been very calm this year and the outboards are doing very well. After about an hour and a half it went off about 4 miles away. Shane hollers down get em in were going to make a run. Everybody crank in a reel we got to go. We pull up on the eastern edge of the bite and get the mess back in in less than 2 minutes. I was leaning back against the fish box looking at several boats fighting fish when out of the corner of my eye I see the 130 in the chair start to bow down then start screaming. less than 5 minutes in the water and we got him on. The guys did great getting in the mess. I had warned them early that once we started to chase the fish to seek high ground cause the pit was going to get wet. With all the boats out there you have to get over the fish quick or someone was going to cut him off. SHane black smoked her and the water was almost coming over my boots and about 10" from coming over the stern, he didn't slow till she started cavitating and we were over the fish. The man on the reel did great keeping up. We played the up and down game for about a half hour when she came in and started the death circle. Leadered him up and SHane got a perfect dart shot in him. Nice fat fish, 86" and cored 255. Sorry no pics but we did get some video that is being worked up as I type. Good luck to all out there and be safe.
God I love this job! _________________ Capt Rick Evans

Good job guys. I Hope u catch a slob everyday. If you guys go sometime just to put meat in the boat and need a hand.... I've caught 3, and my dad 5, all stand up w/ 50Ws and 80Ws. I guess we do it TOTALLY different as the only one that took over an hour 15minutes went close to 550lbs. We'd love to see how you guys do it as laying level w/the bottom of the boat w/ one of these brutes will kill your back and takes a couple weeks to recover from, jeezz. Load the boat guys!!!!
