Well we finnaly ended our 5 day dry spell yesterday. Was just Shane and I on the boat. Seems if we want to catch a fish all we have to do is take Jody out and we are assured to catch a fish our next trip out. The bite has been nothing short of incredible. I'm sure over 50 BFT's hooked a day. We got our pull at about 10:00 yesterday. I triped the planers and Shane jumped down and cleared the mess. We just backed right down on the fish and cranked him in. Eight minutes and we had him 50 ft from the boat. It took another hour and a half to stick him. Mean cold water fish this year. We put Offshore Bobs swiming gaff in him and it worked awsome. Drug the fish for 40 minutes and got the spread back out without another pull. He was 85 inches and dressed at 255.
Today we had a charter and were feeling pretty good. Boats started hooking up all around us and I knew it was just a matter of time. We were checking the port long when the Stbd deep starts screaming. clear the mess in very short order and get on the fish, black smoked right back over him. Had to because alot of fish were getting cut off by other boats. In fact we got boxed in this morning and ended up cutting off a friends fish. Shane couldn't do anything about it and he felt like crap all day for it. Anyway we were straight up and down on the 90" fish, at one point I may have been able to throw the dart but about the time I went for it he ran like he knew what I was going to do. We got him back about 30 ft down when I was helping feed the line into the reel when I felt a pop. Thought we broke him off but the hook just pulled, damn! get em back in and pulled till 2:00 without another. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.
God I love this job! Have some pics that I will post later. _________________ Capt Rick Evans

Hey that Blue Water Candy head is a color I have never seen. Is that the new style you were telling me about? I need some new tricks in the bag . _________________
