Ya'll might not have heard anything about this but the cyber world took 2 torpedoes below the water line over the weekend, and Capt Dave has been fighting for 3 days solid to keep the ship afloat . He has saved the day AGAIN. My web site, 23 FPT type sites and 150 other businesses all rely on Dave and his servers to do business. When those clowns from Anonymous or what ever worthless low life group decided to hack 40,000 servers, Dave was there to fight them...
I just cant say enough about the personal attention Dave gives each and every client ...It's truly amazing to find someone in these times who cares so much and is willing to go the extra mile over and over again for you ...
Thank you Dave ... _________________ http://southchathamtackle.com

I have 9 servers total. They got into one and I caught it. They got 17 bytes of info. Now not knowing if it was the admin password or some forum post. So I had to figure out what happened and why....then how to secure it. and then ..we had no choice but to go through that server and change EVERY single password for every single customer.
Then overnight they got into another one. None of the customers data was damaged but I have 12 sites down along with somel of my own sites. The server has been taken offline while I work on it to backup everyones data. To backup all their settigs. To backup all the databases BEFORE I reimage the server (Reformat the hard drive) and start over. What is taking so long is we are talking about a TON of data. Moving that data even compressed takes time. As example is the database backup taht I am waiting for to download right now has been running almost 2 hours.
I do not do server recovery every day....so I have to figure out what needs to be done....then how to do it...and then do it.
I HOPE to have everyone back online later today.
They got in through a hole in the control panel software we use. Yes it was up to date. The number of servers effected I heard was over 40,000.
Dave
PS...I am on 2 hours of sleep as we speak...
I might add in most cases with most "Hosts" if the site gets hacked or the server gets hacked....they simply reset the server and wish you luck. I am taking the time to try my best to preserve everyones data 100%.

Thanks Capt. Dave!
Because of your hard work, the MAD site did not see an impact and we greatly appreciate it! _________________ In the first place, God made idiots. That was for practice. Then he made school boards - Mark Twain

Oh ya...One more thing I wanted to add...The last time we had one hacked it was through a customers site about 3-4 years ago.
So overall my uptime is pretty good. The biggest problem I see from time to time is people using insecure E-Mail passwords and the spammers breaking into their e-mail account and being spammers....I hate them too!

NOT PASSWORDS FOR THE USERS OF THIS WEBSITE
(Not yelling...just making sure everyone understands.)
For those that do not know....I build and host websites. A LOT of websites.
Their E-Mail, FTP, SFTP and Control Panel Passwords have been changed.

Sounds like you're doing a great job Dave.
I used to be in that same business, know how frustrating, sleep deprived and generally thankless it can be.
Was it an exploit in Plesk?

Ya it was a SQL injection to the admin panel.
THen plesk released a couple of micro-updates that didn't stop it....and that is how I got pooped on.
