The river down the back side of MB is an easy ride with plenty of water. Get from Little River to the river is a pain becasue of MB. Coupld bridges if I recall. Lots of traffic. Once you are past MB you enter the "W" (I am not even going to try to spell it) river. Take your time and enjoy the view. It is a very pretty place.

Capt. Dave is exactly right about the W river ride. Take it in. It is actual tidal fresh water. The water is so far from an inlet, it is fresh, but rises and falls with the tide. Between the hyacinth flowers on the water, and cypress trees on the banks, it is a very scenic ride. There are logs in that water, though. Also, right after Little River, as you are going behind Myrtle Vegas, make sure to NOT get too far to port or starboard in the ICW. That channel is totally man made, and cuts through hard limestone. The water at the edges is deceptively shallow, and the bottom is hard as a brick - not soft mud that will "give" with you, but something you do not want to hit. Excellent ride if you watch out for hazards. |

If you're just trying to get to Charleston quick. The ocean once you get past Frying Pan Shoals is the way to go. _________________ Capt. John Mallette

| also, just as you pass georgetown you have to make a rigt turn up a narrow cut.its easy to miss this turn ,but it should be well marked.then its pretty much straight shot down the ditch to charleston. |

Just made the trip from Wrightsville Beach to Georgetown last weekend. I had a few missed turns (one coming out of the CFR, and went to Calabash before I got to LR. Other than that trip was great. It's the Waccamaw River you will travel to GT. You have two swing bridges depending on the height of your boat, one as soon as you pass Harborgate in LR, and one at socastee. Call on Ch. 9 the bridgetenders if you need an open. Also right after swing bridge in LR you will go through the "rockpile" very narrow stretch with rock bottom, bigger boats usally courtesy call before starting through, at low tide two big boats cannot pass, but it is easier to see the rocks at low tide too. Lot's of wildlife, and great scenery through that stretch after MB. Have a good trip. _________________ 93 27ft. Albemarle Express twin 300 mercuisers
