It's that time of year again folks! After the success of last year's event and the great times had by all the participants, we have been anxiously looking forward to this year's event. The 2nd Annual S.H.A.R.E. King Mackerel Tournament will again be held at Dockside Restaurant and Marina in Wrightsville Beach, NC on June 1-3. The proceeds from this event will benefit the S.H.A.R.E. Foundation www.sharenc.org which raises money for special needs children and their families in southeastern NC.

This will be a captain's choice (pick your day) event again as that format seems to attract the most participants. More details on this event will be posted in the coming weeks including payouts, rules, boundaries, entertainment, etc. so stay tuned.....

For now, here is a preliminary list of sponsors who have committed to this year's event (in no particular order):

Coors Light (Atlantic Shores Distributors)
Hanes
Bluewater Candy Lures
Bob King GMC
Kohls
Toyota of Wilmington
Dockside Restaurant and Marina
Aussie Island
Sidearm Surf and Skate
Sheally Insurance Group (Nationwide Insurance)
PPD, Inc.
Enterprise Rent-a-Car
Atlantic Seafood
Coastal Development and Consulting
SecuraCare

We are currently talking with many other potential sponsors so this list will certainly continue to grow. If you or anybody you know would like to become a sponsor for this great charity event, you can contact Briana Kelly through S.H.A.R.E.'s website www.sharenc.org. If anybody has any questions, comments or suggestions please feel free to ask them here or you can contact us on our website or our Facebook page. Event updates will also be posted on S.H.A.R.E.'s Facebook page www.facebook.com/shareNCfoundation

To get an idea of how much fun everybody had at last year's event, check out the link below to view the awesome photos taken by Robbie Mellis, our event photographer.

We are looking to seeing everybody there and hopefully this beautiful weather we've been having will continue right on through until summer. Stay tuned as we will be posting updates as they become available.

Please be sure to check out our current list of sponsors on the poster above. Because without them, well you know... and I also wanted to give a shoutout to Stevenson Automotive Group and Mark Henderson of the Liquid Fire Fishing Team for their generous contribution to this year's already overflowing captain's coolers.

Now for the good stuff.

Payouts have been set and thanks to all of our generous sponsors we again will be offering a first place prize of $10,000 CASH guaranteed based on ONE(1) boat! The entry fees for this year's tournament are $250 before 5/25/2012 and $300 after 5/25/2012. The rest of the prize structure (all primary and secondary prizes excluding 1st place overall) will be based on 100 paid entries and will be awarded as follows:

Overall
1st $10,000 (guaranteed on 1 boat)
2nd $4,000
3rd $2,000
4th $1,500
5th $1,000
6th $1,000
7th $1,000
8th $750
9th $750
10th $750
11th $500
12th $500
13th $400
14th $400
15th $400

23 and under
1st $2500
2nd $500
3rd $250

Junior Anglers
1st $500
2nd $400
3rd $300
4th $200
5th $100

Lady Angler
1st $300

If you are a number cruncher like I am, you will notice something very unique about this prize structure. For a 100 boat field, we will actually be paying 120% of the collected entry fees back to the fishermen! And since this a 100% charity driven event, all tournament entry fees and TWT's are tax deductible. All entrants will recieve a tax receipt with their paid entry into this year's event. For more information, you can go to www.sharenc.org (FYI we are currently redesigning S.H.A.R.E.'s website and should have it up within the next week or two).

If you have any questions please feel free to pm, ask them here or contact us on S.H.A.R.E.'s website at the URL above. In a few days I will post the official rules as well as a boundary map for this tournament. The boundaries are the same as last year (Cape lookot to Little River) and there are just a few little tweeks (clarifications) to this year's rules that need to be updated before we can send them to the printer.

Thanks again for all the kind words and well wishes and we'll see you guys soon.

Thanks for all the support guys!! We look forward to having you fish with us. As long as we can get some decent weather, we should have a great turnout based on all of the people we have been hearing from. There's $10k up for grabs and somebody's gonna win it.

What a great tourney this is going to be. I saw the extra level added on at Dockside. That should add to the viewing pleasure at the captains meeting and awards ceremony. Everyone who is working to put this tournament together are great people working for a great cause.

I am looking forward to fishing it and if there is anyway I can help on Friday, just let me know. Already have that Thursday and Friday off. :D :D

Thanks Corey, Jody and Andy. We appreciate all the support we can get.

Alright guys, S.H.A.R.E.'s newly designed website is up and running and online registration is now available.

www.sharenc.org/index.php/tournaments/kmt-2012

You can pay online by PayPal/Credit card or you can print out a paper copy from S.H.A.R.E.'s website and mail it in with cash or check. The boundary map is also posted on the tournament website. The boundaries are the same as last year (Cape Lookout to Little River) but there is a typo on the map itself (it still says 2011 boundaries). The official rules for this year's event are also posted there as well.

We have also gotton several new sponsors for this year's tournament so be sure to check them out on the website. Updates will be posted as they become available and you can also keep up to date on facebook by liking Bri Kelly's FB page:

www.facebook.com/people/Briana-Harvey-Kelly/1464451201

and/or S.H.A.R.E.'s FB page:

http://www.facebook.com/shareNCfoundation

On the fishing front, I'm sure most of you are aware about the king bite that happened off the Brunswick Co. beaches last week (yes, the middle of April!) as well as the numbers of fish offshore around the tower and navy wreck areas. Hopefully this pattern will continue because that will put the tournament quality fish on or near the beach as well as in the 65' depth range by the 1st week in June.

So come on out and support a great cause and maybe win some $ in the process. If nothing else, come out to the captain's party on friday June 1st and check out some of the killer auction items we have as well as all the beautiful scenery.... 8)

Only two weeks left guys! Bri Kelly and all of the S.H.A.R.E. volunteers have been working overtime to help make this a truly first class tournament. We've got soft coolers for the captains bags loaded with goodies from a lot of local businesses (beer IS included with them 8) ). We've got FREE FOOD AND BEER at the event party for all registered captains and 3 of their crew members. We've got an ALL CASH payout. We have live entertainment. We've got an absolutely incredible list of items donated by local businesses for our raffles and silent auction (merchandise and services donated so far total just over $5000!). The sum of all these parts adds up to a great time had by fishermen and non-fishermen alike.

Here's an abbreviated list of the raffle and silent auctions we have so far:

**Brinkman 4 burner gas grill donated by Home Depot,
**NC Conceal and Carry class by Surf City Guns and Ammo, LLC,
**Costa Del Mar 580 polarized sunglasses,
**Fishing tackle donated by Blue Water Candy Fishing Lures,
**Round of golf for 4 including cart fee at Castle Bay Golf Course,
**Full day at Evolution Salon and Spa (great for the wives/lady anglers)
**Gift certificates from local business such as Terrazzo's, Oceanic, Dockside, Fuzzy Peach, Lighthouse Beer and Wine, Britt Motor Sports, Airlie Moon, Comfortable Soles, The Sterling House, Cafe Brava, J. Michael's Philly Deli, Kickback Jack's and many more........,

One of the main goals we are hoping to accomplish with this event, besides raising money for the S.H.A.R.E. Foundation, is to try to increase participation and awareness for kingfish tournaments in general by putting more emphasis on the social aspect of the event. Everybody loves a party, especially one on the water where the food and drinks are free and there's plenty of beautiful scenery. Think about Nationals in Biloxi. Personally, that is our favorite event of the year because it is essentially a week-long party and the good times and comraderie had by all those in attendance is what makes it such a great time. We are shooting for a similar feel for this event with the party we have planned. When you add in low entry fees which are tax deductible ($250 early/$300 regular), an all cash payout and the fact that all the proceeds will benefit special needs children and their families throughout southeastern NC, this event has unlimited growth potential.

Everything is in place to make this one of the best events of the year, all we need is for the weather and fish gods to smile on us just a little, and for you to come out and support this first class tournament which we are extremely proud to be a part of. As always, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to post them here or through the S.H.A.R.E. website at www.sharenc.org.

Tight lines and we'll see everybody at Dockside in a couple weeks.[/url]

There are several places on Hwy 74 (Eastwood Rd.) which is about a 3 mile straight shot from the Wrightsville Beach boat ramp. There's a Fairfield Inn, a Hampton Inn, a Suburban Extended Stay and I believe there's one more right there but the name escapes me. All these places are right next to one of our sponsor's locations (Tex's Tackle) so you will be able to get any tackle you might need as well as some great intel on bait and fish locations. There are also several restaurants in the same area such as Hiro, Buffalo Wild Wings, Texas Roadhouse, Michaelangelo's to name a few. As far as where to keep the boat, I would recommend trailering it to and from the WB boat rams or wherever you plan to put in. Public dockage around Wrightsville Beach is a rare commodity (hence expensive). But if you are deadset on keeping your boat in the water, I would contact our host marina at Dockside (910-256-2752). If they don't have anything available they will be able to steer you in the right direction. Another option if you want to keep your boat in the water is to ask around on this site. Fryingpantower is loaded with great people who may be able to help find you a slip. Hope this helps and hope to see you out there.

Just a couple days left! Weather forecast for this weekend is west 10-15 2'-4' on sat and 10 kts or less and 2' on sunday! Come on out and join us this weekend for the party at Dockside if nothing else. We have around 30 or so early entries as of last friday so that's leaps and bounds above what we had last year at this time.

As far as the fishing goes, the king bite has been spotty, but there are fish to be had by those teams that are willing to wait it out at the usual spots for this time of year such as 30/30, shark hole, horseshoe, the tower, jungle, maybe yaupon reef or lighthouse rocks (if we don't get too much rain from TS Beryl) just to name a few. Bait is in the Cape Fear River near Snow's Cut and along the Brunswick Co. beaches. There are also plenty of bluefish around the mouth of the river and on FP Shoals for folks that want to go that route.

I just wanted to give a quick shout out to all the incredibly generous sponsors we have supporting this year's event. You can check them out on S.H.A.R.E.'s website or you can check out Bri Kelly's Facebook page at the URL's in the posts above.

And as always, if you have any questions or comments feel free to post them here or on the S.H.A.R.E. website. We hope to see everybody at Dockside this friday!

Just a reminder guys, in case Dockside's parking lots are full (which they will certainly be) on friday we have a shuttle from the old baby hospital (on the left just before the WB drawbridge) to Dockside provided by Toyota of Wilmington. There will be parking signs up and the shuttle will have a S.H.A.R.E. KMT magnet on it. We will also be going over a few small things (clarifications, not changes) at the captain's meeting such as check in times and check in boat descriptions and locations.

Good luck to all and we'll see you soon!

Pretty far out for my 4.8 fish....if you call it a fish. I wasn't even going to tell anybody I caught a king that small. I pulled into the no wake zone (only because I keep my boat there) found out only 7 fish had been weighed and it was 15 min till the cutoff. I embarrassingly had my cousin pull the dink out of the box in front of the crowd and the Coors Light girls. It was worth a laugh and 300 bucks.

Great touranment!!!! Thanks for all the nice gifts!

Reel Buzz, can you post that pic of the smallest king??? I need another good laugh!

Thanks guys for all the kind words. A lot of people donated a lot of time and effort to make this event a success. The pics will be up in a couple days. The photographer has to do some processing and they will be available for purchase through the S.H.A.R.E. website www.sharenc.org.

As far as the small fish is concerned, one of the most important lessons I've learned from years of tournament king mackerel fishing is to ALWAYS weigh your fish no matter how small. You never know where you might end up and the sting of leaving $ on the table because you thought your fish was too small is a tough pill to swallow. Thanks again for participating and be sure to tell all your buddies about it too. Next year's event is already in the early planning stages and it promises to be even better!

Was a great tournament. Everyone involved with it did an excellent job!! I am already looking forward to next year.

Now I am ready to see some pictures. Everything was so rushed for us, never had time to take any.
