We have had many requests for a Go Pro Cam extension handle. The first thing that came to mind was our flying gaff handle so we made an adapter for that.
Then I saw the Shur hold boat brush handle so we made an adapter for it.

Then came the Turtle release net handle. We had some good input from the fine folks at Osprey Custom Fishing Rods and this is what we came up with. Keep in mind that this handle has been completely modified. We disassemble it completely, cut and drill new holes, replace all screws and springs with stainless steel. then make the camera adapter and also make a Gimbel mount on the base so it will fit in a rod holder. Also an eye bolt has been added for a security lanyard.
The extension pole will extend from 4' to 8' in 1' increments. It can go in a rod holder and catch the on deck action and then be quickly deployed for that great underwater shot. Then back in the rod holder for the mayhem ensuing on deck.
Check them out in our online store. Go Pro

Bob from the placement of the case in the pictures, how far can you rotate the camera towards the pole? With the mount pictured is there enough space to rotate it against the pole for the underwater shots and have the video still be right side up?

I would be concerned about the housing popping at the joint if the boat is slightly underway. There is quite a bit of drag at 1knt or 2. I use a contour bolted on a dovetail bracket for boat side shots. Does a gopro have a 1/4-20 threaded mount hole for a standard camera mount? By the way I use the same pant pole!! I like the hexagon shape of the inner tube this keeps the camera from rotating. Mark _________________

All good questions, the go pro in order to lay the camera back it requires a second arm. I will put a photo of it up shortly. This position will aid in stability underwater against water flow.
The Go Pro also has a setting that allows you to film upside down and have it play back right side up.
There is free software http://www.squared5.com to invert your video.
We were trying to make this as simple as possible to use, with the extra arm you have one more thing to come loose. The camera cases and mounts are pretty darn strong. In fact Bruce who works here at the shop pulled many a go pro out of hay bales with no damage this past march at the Daytona motorcycle races.
The Hoo Doos are in the Deep six dept of the online store Hoo Doo _________________ http://southchathamtackle.com

The Go Pro camera case does not have a 1/4-20 thread it has ears that mount to a tripod mount that has a 1/4-20 thread. Our handle has a 1/4 20 threaded stud mounted in the the handle adapter so you can mount just about any camera to it. _________________ http://southchathamtackle.com
