Here's the latest centerline update from COE. Have a call in to see what the future holds, but no return, yet. As always, NOT TO BE USED FOR NAVIGATION! You hit sompin, it's on you and not me or the Corps. And the centerline shows about 200' from the danger buoy, not really sure how far that is from Bendigo. I probably won't be blasting through there on the lower half of the tide ...

| I was out there Saturday afternoon, mid-tide. I didn't see any danger buoy and I was looking for it. As close as they were dredging to the Bendigo, if they don't mark it they will have a lot more submerged wrecks. |

Thanks for the update. I might follow some of the regulars out till I get the use to the change, or till the markers are replaced.

I did my own informal survey on Sat in my 13' whaler at low tide
* No danger bouy - but Bendigo was visible
* It gets real skinny and shallow: 3 - 4.5' for the final stretch near WP #1 so be careful at low tide
The sched says 7 days in June and 7 more at the beginning of Sept...
So maybe it will get better... but at this point - I wouldn't care if the sandbar builds the beach all the way out past the iron age and the same idiots who stole the storm drain grates in my neighborhood drive out there and haul off all 3 wrecks in the middle of the night! :D _________________ Mako 261 - Twin Suzuki DF-140's |

I believe the dredge got pulled out early to go save the Hatteras ferry, so June has been added back. They screw with the schedule so often the dredge crews must never know where they'll sleep next ... 8O |

Heading down to Holden next week. Anybody have any more guidance on Lockwoods?
During spring break we just bit the bullet and drove down to southport. I would like to save the fuel and time this trip if the inlet is better... but not at the expense of a lower unit.
Looks like it might be nice if the weather holds.
thanks, brian |

sounds good. say a little prayer for the weather. looks like one of the nicest 7 day reefcast forcast i have seen for my week off.
We will be in a Marlago 31. 'Offshore Outlaw' out of Holden Beach Marina for the week.
We will be hitting it hard with the way the forecast looks so I am sure we will overlap the days your are out.

Still good as of Saturday. Higher tide (outgoing) was a no-brainer, saw 3.5' (adjusted +2 for transducer location) at about dead low. Word of caution: if you're not going to be on the 195/015* line, cheat to the west. I wouldn't want to go over Bendigo at high, much less any lower tide.
Second caution: flounder pounders were anchored all over the channel from about Waypt 5 in.
Caveat: Tide/wind were in sync when I transited, the entire character of the inlet will degrade with any tide/wind opposition ... :? |

| Dredging is now scheduled for 21 Jun - 5 July. If that's not enough time to clean it up, then it may never happen ... 8O |

Strongly suggest you not use the numbers from last year. The lat/longs shown earlier in the thread are the last ones published by COE, I would expect an update next week after the post-dredging survey is complete, buoys to follow after that. As always, not certified for navigation, use at your own risk ... |

Talked to the dredge Capt on the radio today. Said they are staying until next tuesday to try and get it wider, they are happy with the depth but it is narrow near the ocean side. _________________ Capt Ryan Jordan

| Dredge is still hard at it..I used Lockwood all week and had no problems. I did see two boats stuck on the sandbar on the oak island island side of the channel. Hopefully buoys will be in soon to help. |

The buoys are in place and pretty much mark the waypoints shown earlier in this thread. Bendigo is about 50' east of red buoy #6, and the channel gets a little narrow from there on out. Buoys appear to be located right at the channel edge, so use some caution to keep the center line, the bars pinch in really close at a couple of places. Also use some caution for the flounder pounders anchored along the edges but fishing in the channel, even at the skinny part. And this was a Friday, can't wait to see the obstacle course tomorrow ... 8O
