| Any local knowledge from you guys in the Southport area regarding jumping the shoals inside of the Fairway? Is there a good slough or drain in front of BHI to slide thru? |

| How can 200 guys see this post without someone knowing a route thru the shoals? Surely someone from Southport/ BHI has info regarding a shortcut/ slew/ drain accross the shoals to the E side without running all the way to the Fairway? |

Some ppl jump it right at Bald Head, I always go to the last can before the Sea buoy and head north. I have seen no less than 8 foot of water the last few times. Nothing to it, just take your time and read the water. I have it saved as a track now.

Oh yea, I also have a track that cuts right across at the sea buoy. It might be a little easier place for you to cross.
These are just 2 paths that I have tracked. They are by no means a certain path for you to navigate. You are at your own risk. _________________ All Mine Fishing Team

It can be kind of dicey in the summer months with the sw winds it shoals up pretty bad close to the beach, have not been out there since April but it was passable then. This is only what I see from the beach and have seen plenty cut through over the years. _________________ Fishing to the beat of a different drum |

I went over the shoals a few years ago on a charter. The depth finder hit 6 ft at one spot. We were out of sight of land.
Another time, we were running parallel to the shoals on the south side and there were rolling, 8 ft, Hawaii 5-0 waves in a couple spots on the shoals while normal waves were around them. Be careful... |

Yes, there is a slough just off Bald Head. It shifts some.
It's on the most recent (last fall) C-Map Max card.
My boat's an hour away. Next time I'm at it, I'll get you #'s.
As long as the seas are decent, you can cross most anywhere
you like if yer in a typical o/b boat and yer not crossing dead
low tide on a full or new moon !
Another "passage" I used is to find a bouy just off BHI and
turn dead East. Sorry, can't remember the bouy # off top of
my head. _________________ \"Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.\" |
