I want to transfer a lot of numbers from Supermap to my GPS. I know you can do it the other way around, can you do this? If so - how?

Chewy,
In the waypoints drop down when you are looking at your list of waypoints has a link that says Download Waypoints. Click that link. Save the file....It will be in GPX format. I will bet whatever software you use for your GPS will convert GPX to whatever you need. It is a real common format.

Now what? I saved the waypoints to a GPX file on my computer, but have no idea what to do next. It's for a Garmin 4208.

Does your Garmin have software that you hook it up to the computer with?

No there is no software that came with the unit that I can find anyway.

I just acquired ~600 numbers - good, confirmed numbers, and I really would love to be able to download them to the chip directly. I manually entered them all into Supermap this weekend and I really don't want to do that again on the Garmin.

Another question - assuming I can get this figured out and download the file to the chip - what data will be transfered? Will it be only the lat/lon or will all the info go? Name/number/notes/symbol?

OK so I downloaded easygps and can now atleast open the file that I saved from supermap. What's the next step? Just save it to the chip from the unit?

I "Think" this will do it for free...
http://www.easygps.com/

You will still need a cable.

GPSU, I know for a FACT works. This fellow has been around for YEARS and is a good dude! I have personal spoke to him on several occasions.

http://www.gpsu.co.uk

$60 for the Pro version....

You "Could" do 100 at a time with the free version....BUT if you are going to mess with stuff like this....Buy and be done with it.

I'm in Wilmington. Appreciate the offer, I may just take you up on it. I like to be able to figure stuff like this out on my own, so I'm gonna try futzing with it a little longer.

OK I downloaded the free GPSU.

Export? Anything else I need to do?

I'm pretty sure the SD card from the unit will plug right into my laptop. Just insert card and export files to the card?

I do it with a cable directly to the GPS. I have never tried to do it with a Card. I am sure if you look around on the internet someone has instructions....

OK not sure what I"m doing wrong but it didn't work. I converted the file with GPS Utility and then saved that onto an SD card. Plugged the card into the unit and followed the onscreen instructions but it didn't happen.

Any suggestions?

It's a flush mount unit so I can't bring it to ya. You gonna be in Ogden anytime this week?
