Seaview - Sign Me Up!!!

Dave turned on the Seaview for me to try. On my initial run here is what I did.

1. Turned on SST - layed in a few points
2. Turned on Salinity - layed a few more in the general area
3. Sub surface temp 50m - same drill
4. Plankton - same drill

Maybe some others? I can't remember.

Then turned on the chart to see where they were all laying. Lets just say I could go to a spot that drops from 225-300' off Morehead today, if I could get out, and confidently put a smack down on some fish jigging. Guaranteed.

Pretty cool IMO.

Hell this is what I have been trying to tell everybody for a year! All joking aside this is the stuff it is by far the best I have used.

Here is what I'm talking about.

1 day SST composition and lay in a mark

Temp 50m down...Lay in another in the general vicinity

Plankton....Lay in another on the change in the general vicinity

Salinity...Lay in another

Then turn on the chart and see what kind of bottom they fall on.

......go fishing!!!

I subsribed about a month ago. Capt Dave talked me through the process. I just need to use the layers a little more like you did Seadraggin.

I'm keeping my fingures crossed that I can give it another op-check for real on Mon.

We loaded up on some nice 23 - 30 # mahi last year about 40 miles out of Beaufort Inlet. No weed lines, but the cap knew about some structure and everytime we made a pass we hooked up. I think there is better fishing up there than down here in Wilmington. That seaview is really gonna help dial it in.

I haven't had it long, but already think it is great.
I use what you showed Jim, plus add currents, and a composite loop. You can almost bet money where the warm water is going.

You want to start with the Most Recent SST....If that does not have the area youa re looking for covered....move to the SST 1 Day Composite.....if that does not have data for the area you want move to the 3 day etc....

Why this way?

The SST"Most Recent" is the single "Most Recent" pass. We post it 8 mins after the data is availible. IT will have the BEST resolution. The 1 day Composite is ALL of the shots today laid over top of each other to fill in all the area. it is then averaged. So it will not be as accurate as the Most Recent.

The 3 day is the same process but over 3 days and so on.

Current....
We do not get High Res Currents in this part of NC. What we get is Ocean Currents (Not to be mistaken for tides) They will show the general direction of the current and the speed. But you mouse over them and it will show in the bottom box.

SSH...This runs on the priciple of Up wellings. for this topic I recommand that you stop and read ....How to hunt fish from Sapce. It is on the front page at thte top of the site. It is a very very good article.

I signed up for Supermap and it's the most accurate map out there by far. Unfortunately do to weather, I haven't used it much because of weather. But when I did, it was on target for sure. I can't wait for the season to pick up and It'll help me everyday.

Got a question and bear with me, no laughing allowed lol, I am going to fish mainly for kings and on the better days, head out to deeper water and troll for dolphin and do some bottom fishing.

How beneficial will it be, considering I may not venture out more than 20 miles. Any further will be on those flat days.

Now Look...I am basis becasue it is my service....but with the price of fuel the way it is....I would not leave home without looking.

Paid vs FREE is all about Resolution and datasets.

Paid gets you SSTs with HIGHER Res. (That does not mean the the free one sux because they are very good....but SeaView is better)

Paid gets you access to Planton data vs Clor on the Free side. (Read Fish Finding from space at the top of the front page)

Paid gets you Currents....If you bottom fish at all, it is nice to know where the current is hauling butt.

Paid gets you Composite SSTs for 1 day, 3 day, 7 Day and Cloud Free.
Free just has individual shots. If it was cloudy the day before...on the free side you got nothing vs on the paid side we can still point you in the right direction.

i used it all last season for kings. i usually stay within 35 miles or so. its a great tool and worth the extra bux. the 50 bux off this year makes it even better! now if they just made a real-time sonar feed mapping where all the fish actually are, that would be awesome :)

I realize this is board for the southern NC areas primarily, But how far north does this program go? I usually fish out of Hatteras and Oregon inlet, would it be of any use to me?

Just a little more info on SSt's. If I was going trolling tomorrow before the get together on Sunday, I know exactly where I would start with the help of Seaview.
