Running With The Bulls……..

On Saturday morning May 30, 2009 Jim Watson along with Allen and Chris Norberg of Columbia, SC experienced first hand what it was like to run with the bulls. The beauty of it all was the fact they did not have to travel to Spain to experience the excitement. It all took place aboard the Stand ‘N Down II with Captain Keith Logan and 1st Mate Jonny Jones of Stand ‘N Down Charters in Holden Beach, NC. The crew fished the Blackjack Hole on Saturday morning. Within just a few minutes of the spread being put out reels were screaming and the action was on. The third fish of the day proved to be a Bull Dolphin in the mid thirty pound range. Before Jim Watson could boat the fish two other reels went off with gaffer size dolphin on each one. The day provided multiple hook ups with two and three dolphin on at the same time requiring Captain Logan and 1st Mate Johnny Jones to put it into overdrive. Captain Logan reports that one dolphin estimated weighing in the upper 40 pound range straightened a #2 treble hook before the gaff could be planted while the fish was boat side. Although a few fish broke off, the crew still landed its fair share of multi-colored hard hitting dolphin. To say it was a great day at the stream would be an understatement for an awesome time was had by all. The named poison of the day once again was Captain Bob of South Chatham Tackle’s Pirate Plugs and the Blue Water Candy Blk/Purple skirts. Stand’N Down Charters would like to thank Jim, Allen, and Chris for joining us today and we look forward to fishing with you again soon…
