Well they cancelled the Long Bay Ladies Angler Tournament so Jim, Dawn, Tommy, James, and Chrissy pulled together a pick up trip.
I try to report the Good, Bad and Ugly Trips - Needless to say this was a tough one.
The Top Bite that had been SMOKING at the Horse Shoe came to a dead halt. We caught 1 lowly dog shark. They would not eat anything, live bait / dead bait / skirted rigs / naked rigs ect. And of course I was out of Green Pirate Plugs so we deployed a Pink. Nada. Nothing was working.
Moved a few miles further offshore only to have the same result so we pushed on out even further to the Navy Wreck. The top never did produce so we threw in the towel and started bottom fishing.
The bite was sporadic at absolute best and it made for a long hot day. We did finally catch some decent Black Bass, Grunts, and Pinkies.
I have never seen the water that dirty that far off-shore even after Hurricanes, it was horrible.
We made one more move to the 150/350 and again never got them turned on.
Been awhile since I had one this tough but that it's a little reminder that some days are diamond and some are stone.
I still had a great crowd and had fun so it was not all for nothing.
Thanks again guys. _________________ Ricky Holden

I was right there with you Ricky. I had a crew of Marines that wanted to catch some fish. It was a full moon and I knew it was gonna be tough but I had no idea. We caught 7 sharks all day and then like someone flipped a switch at 3:15 the Kings started biting. I looked at the bite watch and it was calling for the bite at 3:05 . All the boys caught Kings, they had more fun gaffing them but all were happy. Made for a late day but we caught some fish. _________________

hey i talked to to 6 different boats that were out in your general area ricky and they had the same luck. they tried everything and nada. said they would never make that long run again for 4 fish. thats why we call it fishing and not catching. thats the first trip i have heard ricky not do well in alot of trips. _________________ Robby
