arrow The best offshore fishing of the year is coming right at you....

I know, I know--some of you don't really understand the difference between a CONTENDER and a Sea Hunt or Maycraft or whatever but maybe one of you does. 1996 hull with 2002 Yamaha OX66 EFI 250 HP 2-stroke engine (under 450 hours), for the SERIOUS offshore fishermen who want a 21' that handles like a 25' in rough water. Cruise 35-40 all day long with PLENTY of top end left. Typical CONTENDER amenities like large built in fish box forward, forward anchor locker, forward cooler seat, recessed stainless rails, ample under console storage, leaning post with storage compartment, built in live well, swim ladder, GARMIN color GPS and sounder/locater, nice CD stereo and speakers, VHF radio, t-bag storage under t-top, chrome rod holders all over, dual batteries, large swim platform at stern, pop up forward cleat, etc. The trailer is a 2005 Continental tandem aluminum with clear NC title and IS NOT INCLUDED AT THIS STUPID LOW PRICE. Ready to fish TODAY. Minor cosmetics here and there but overall a strong 9 for overall condition--it is a 1996 you know. Not open to further negotiation (other than to sell you the trailer with it for another $1,500) so please don't waste my time or yours.

And for you who want to see pictures, pictures and more pictures (because if you are serious, you would just come look in person):

Boat is in Trent Woods, NC Email Tarheelrebel2000@aol.com if interested. I am open to a trade up or down for a fairly new solid quality skiff of equal value--Jones Bateau, Southern Skimmer, etc.

Not sure how many OFF SHORE fisherman want an antique 21' boat. But thanks for making sure everyone knows you are a superior boat connoisseur.

That antique boat just happens to be the most offshore capable 21' boat made and great fuel mileage. This is possibly the 1st CC hull designed with reverse chines and is a VERY dry boat. Contender has built this SAME boat since 1991, the only changes have been updated hinges, handles, cleats, and other hardware. The only other built this long is the Grady White Gulfstream, built since 1987. This says a lot about a boat. Definitely a classic to anyone who knows boats.

I have had many boats, including 3 GW's (1 Gulfstream), 1 regulator, 1 Contender, 2 Boston Whalers, 2 Formulas, 1 Thunderbird, 1 Sea Fox, 1 Kulas, and several sail boats. I have a 21 Contender and I have now realized how good these boats are too, my knees can vouch for that. It is a super little boat, and you are right its antique.

I am sure it is a great boat... maybe I took a little offence to the arrogance of the first few lines in the post. Like this site is a resting ground for dummies..

It is a very fine boat but i would put a 21 ft Kencraft Challenger up against a 21 Contender anyday as "the most offshore capable 21".
I have owned them....just my opinion :)
This is a good price on this boat too! Good luck on the sale. Alot of boat with a good motor for 12K. At this price, you will always be able to get your money out of it on a resell.

I agree that the Kencraft Challenger is the best 21' boat. Here's one for sale and I know the boat is in great shape.

it's okay stikslinger, he was talking to me. I don't understand the difference in what he has and the other boats. Of course, I may be a little intimidated because it is coming right at me.

Welcome to FPT, your first post and you get blasted. Don't offshore fish anymore but if I did a Contender would be what I would love to have.

..A sense of humor misunderstood.? Say it ain't so.. Hehehe.. I will admit it tho'. When I first read it, it seemed a little schnooty. But it's easy to read attitude into something that should be done schmilin'. 'Guess that's what the emoticons are for, eh.? wink 8)
..And "antique" I ain't worried about. A quality rig is a quality rig for a very long time if they ain't mistreated.
They're built that way and cost that much for a reason, most of the time.
And everything was better before Brunswick bought'em out. /sarcasm roll  d:^) Schneeks..

tarhellrebel,

Welcome to the world of on line posting. Everyone with an opinion (like me!) can post for the whole world to read.

All of us who have posted something have seen the negative "commentators" or negataters. And you are right about the "pictures", what in the hell are those people asking for all those pictures doing with them? That's usually the first reply, "will you send me some more pictures?" Are we the only two people who think this is nuts? It is a used TLD and there are millions of them and I paid 5 times what I am asking and you want me to go take more pictures, download them, resize them, and mail them to you! Let me just send you the money so you can buy the reel from me.

There I feel better.

Good luck in selling your boat, that is a great boat at a fair price. And yes, your ad does sound a little snarkey but what the heck, it is your boat and your ad; sell the heck out of it...

:D lol For schneeky

Sarcasm loses a lot in print and on the phone, most people don't get it.

Is the boat still available?

is a Classic and at a great price.

Others in the same class are Seacraft and the 215 Kencraft. Spoke to Clay 2 months ago who indicated that KC was considering building the 215 again.

Good luck with the sale.

Guy came up from Florida, saw the boat, paid cash with no BS at a price higher than it was listed on here for. Sad to see it go, that boat helped us kill a lot of fish.

The reason for the seemingly arrogant description is while the boat was for sale we had numerous parties come look at the boat, then try to compare prices between it and a similar year Sea Fox, Maycraft, Sea Hunt, etc. One can only take so many offers of $5-10k for a 21' Contender before it starts to get irritating...
