Jolly Roger Pier just added #11 to the Tarpon count for the year...130 lb. landed by BT friday evening.....still more fishing to come too....................

# 12 was landed this evening right before dark... An 85 lb. fish!!! Lots of mullet streaming by and plenty of tarpon kings can be seen feeding in the schools.

This is the big fall push. It should remain at least through the full moon period this coming weekend.

The "Legend" Angelo Depaola just released tarpon #13 for the year on the JR! It was estimated at 125+ lbs!!!

Deep is certainly a legend. There was a great article about him in a NC wildlife magazine recently. I can't recall which publication. That man can catch some kings from the pier though...

Heard there was another one, tarpon, that got eaten by some sharks today right at the pier. Is this accurate?

Yes that is true... The tarpon that got eaten was about a hundred yards from the pier from what I understand. It had been fought for quite some time, and was nearly dead coming back to the pier on top; they saw the shark come get it.

Many more tarpon were seen going by today. It is killing me not being able to fish!

It was the September-October edition of "Wildlife in North Carolina." One of THE BEST articles anyone has written about him thus far.
