You may have seen the commercials, but in case you haven't. Beaufort is neck and neck with a town in the heart of NY for the Budget Travel " Coolest Small Town In America Contest" .
As you all know, this area has been hit hard with a slow economy and the federal assault of both commercial and recreational fishermen. Take a moment and help make Beaufort the coolest small town in America. You can vote once a day, and there is only a few days left to vote.

Actually that little town in NY is pretty cool. It sits along the Finger Lakes and is loaded up with Wineries and some beautiful views. I grew up about an hour away from there and spent my younger days chasing salmon and Lake trout in that area. That being said.......Beaufort is cooler by a long shot !!!

Please do not vote for Beaufort!!! I have to call 6 months in advance now to get a room at the Inlet Inn and a space at the town dock for my boat for a long weekend. I'm just kidding. It is an awesome place to visit. My wife and I call it a "walking town". You can park your vehicle and not start it again until you are ready to go home. It is the next best town to Key West. You can walk 50 yards from the motel and have a great meal while sitting at the dock and looking at some awesome boats.
